My name is Carrie Holt (she/her). I am an LSST-DA Catalyst Postdoctoral Fellow at Las Cumbres Observatory working with Dr. Tim Lister. My research interests include the characterization and evolution of small bodies in the Solar System, particularly active objects. I use optical photometry and time-domain surveys to study how these objects evolve over time, with the goal of understanding their formation and thermal histories.
I believe science doesn’t exist in a vacuum and that scientists have a responsibility to engage with the broader world. I’m committed to fostering equity and inclusion in STEM and strive to create a more diverse and accessible scientific community.
I grew up in suburban South Carolina and received my BS in Physics at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York. I earned my PhD in Astronomy at the University of Maryland under the advisement of Professor Matthew Knight of the US Naval Academy. Outside of astronomy, I enjoy watching theatre, concerts, and sports, traveling, trying new foods, and hanging out with my partner, Victoria, and our dog, Orion.
